Google Maps has added Tour de France checkpoints and routes with “Street View”, so sports fans can follow and enjoy their favorite race.
Thanks to this addition, you can now follow every twists, turns and steep climbs in Google Maps for the upcoming 2008 Tour de France cycling race. Users by clicking the map as shown below, they can navigate through the streets the cyclists will be taking in this race and watch the mountains, cities and towns.

To see the street view of all the 21 stages, click this link here and click the camera icon to see the actual route.

Google Earth also has a special link for the 2008 Tour de France.

Only thing you can’t watch with Google Maps is live action, but that is taken care of by Google with a special Youtube page for Tour de France.

With this Tour de France route, Google Maps launches the Street View imagery in Europe for the first time. To include privacy concerns, they have face blurring feature and also protect sensitive information like the car license plates.

If you don’t like Tour de France, you can still see Street View images of national parks and recreational areas in Google Maps.
